Which weapon in which situation

I thought it would be great if you could teach your officers how they should handel or react to what danger/ threat.
As some officers would shoot a suspect armed with a metal rod, your sensitized officers would use the telescope baton or tazer. If any dangerous person would get shot, that would be uncool. Of course, if there’s no other possibility than taking the threat down, it’s fine.
What dou you guys think?

I think that since they are already officers, they should know what to do. But, maybe your department could have politics/guidelines how to handle situations.
Like High risicis, Medium risicis and Low risicis.
Maybe just maybe having the ability to choose the weapon when you select the officer ? But the officer can also do that himself
